Vaijnath is situated in Maharashtra's Beed District, in Parli. It is thought that anyone who visits this temple will achieve moksha and be freed from all suffering. According to a tale, the demon king Ravana wanted Lord Shiva to travel to Sri Lanka with him. Shiva gave him permission, but with one restriction. Ravan was commanded to continue on his journey without stopping or giving his Lingam to anybody else. If he does, his lingam will remain permanently rooted there. They commanded Varuna to enter Ravan's stomach, and as a result, he suddenly felt the need to urinate. Lord Vishnu then came in front of Ravan as a Brahmin during this time. Unaware of the mystery, Ravan gave the Lingam to the Brahmins. After that, the lingam became permanently rooted there.

A narrative from the Shiv Puranas states that Sudeha and Sudharm, a childless couple, dwelt on Devagiri Mountain. Ghushma, her sister, was married to Sudeha's husband. Ghushma and Sudharm became parents. It made Sudeha envious. She flung the boy into the lake, where Ghushma had already released 101 lingams. Ghushma prayed repeatedly, and Lord Shiva gave her son back. Lord Shiva appeared here in the form of Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga at Sudharm's request.
