Due to the rise in the water level of the Hindon River, around 350 cars were submerged in the Ecotech-3 area of Gautam Buddha Nagar Monday. Officials said the cars belonged to the dump yard of a private company built in the floodplain of the Hindon in the Purana Sutiana village.

“A private company had built its own unauthorised yard in the submergence area of the Hindon River. Even after the repeated warning, they did not remove the vehicles parked in the area,” said Manish Kumar Verma, District Magistrate.

Normal life has not been affected in any way and there has been no loss of life,” added Verma.

According to the police, the damaged cars were parked in the dump yard of the ride-hailing company Ola.
